A study by the United Nations concluded that child marriage often results in children who also end up married as children.
The results of the study which spanned over a decade and involved a large number of UN staff in many countries of the world, were based on data from over 1 million child marriages worldwide.
The study also found that due to cultural differences, even most people in the west who are opposed to gay marriage are not opposed to child marriage, although some do find it odd to uphold the definition of marriage as the union between a man and a child.
Because of the long time of the duration of this study, many of the original children in the study are now no longer children themselves and their grandchildren are now at risk of being married as children.
That, should be a cause for current concern.
